Ted Talk Outline

Learning how to play the guitar did not come as easily as I expected it to. I had a plan that I would practice 2-3 times a week and it just did not work as I planned. I ended up practicing about 5 times in total which is not nearly enough to learn to play a song. Learning to play was deffinitly a huge challenge. I have to admit I could’ve done a better job in practicing. Finding time was a struggle because of all the extra circular activities I have. Working out lessons with my friend was not that easy because there were some times where I wanted to work and he could’nt. The apps and Cd’s I had helped me very little because I am more of a hands on learner and need assistance in front of me. It taught me  a lot about myself though. And I think this experience is going to change me. I used to think that I could do anything and that I will be able to complete whatever I put my mind to. Which honestly still may be true. I just did not get the full experience because of my lack of motivation I had to learn the guitar. I was not the same guy half way through. I started off intrigued and curious and it eventually felt like something I was just trying to find excuses for doing. I may not be the musician that I wanted to be and that is ok. I learned a lot from this attempt though. I learned that without structured time given to me I may not be the best at doing projects, also that not everything can be done at the last minute.

Becoming a Guitar Guru

  1. Create an appropriate title. Create a simple title that hooks the reader and explains what the blog post will be about.
  2. 2 week progress report
    1. What have you learned about your topic?
    2. What have you learned about yourself?
    3. Have you had any setbacks? How do you plan to handle them, or how did you already handle them?
    4. What are the next steps in your process?
    5. How can you apply anything you have learned to yourself, your school, your community, etc.?

I want to become a man who memories the basic ins and outs of the guitar. It has been a challenge so far and has not came easily. I have learned that there is more to it than just being able to strum the chords and knowing finger placement. Flow and rhythm are huge factors in being a guitar master. My goal is not to become a master though, that could take me more than a year. My goal is to master one song. I learned that I need to manage my time better, A LOT better. The thing that has set me back the most has been the amount of practice hours I have not practiced as much as I would have liked to especially recently because of break and everything happening.

The Rough Hands

I have been moving forward on my guitar play and knowing of the keys. I am actually not that bad at the guitar. I am picking up on chords and keys and am slowly getting better every practice. The only trouble is that me and my guitar teacher Will Liddle can never have a set date as to when we can practice and meet. It is good that we are friends and can work around one another schedule. We normally like to meet on Wednesday but if that does not work we will plan something. Another thing that is happening is that my fingers are starting to get rough from playing a lot. I kind of like it because it shows that I am progressing. Moving forward I just have to stay on task and keep working on my skills and hopefully soon I will be able to play the guitar without having to stop between each chord to look at my finger placement. I hope that learning to play the guitar will cause my friends to also want to learn or get into music. Thank you for tuning it hope to see you all soon.

Steps to success

Ive come a long way since I just picked up a guitar. I have learned how to tune a guitar and learned how to read notes of a sheet of paper or an app. I realized that I am a little more musical than I expected and should have done music as a hobby. I used to play saxaphone for elementary school but that did not last long. The toughest thing I have encountered was not having enough time to practice and get used to it so it becomes fluent. I am not stressing out about it though I know I still have time and will grind when I really have to. As of now I just have to keep practicing the notes of the song I will be playing called "Im Yours" by Jason Mraz. Playing the guitar is just helping me become a more well rounded person. Rather than just everyone thinking all I do is play sports.

Becoming a guitar man

20 time is a process of doing something we have little knowlegde about and expanding on it. The question I ask myself is, Can I be dedicated to learn how to play guitar? So I wanted to challenge myself and do something new so I decided to learn how to play the guitar. It will be difficult and I will struggle at times but if I work hard and stick to my technique anything is possible. I have planned my weekly actions and the course I will take to reach my goal. I am working with an experienced friend one to two times a week. I still have apps and neat devices to help me on my journey. I prefer hands on learning because it is easier for me to comprihend. It has been difficult in my proccess but I am not quitting. I said before and I still stand by my word, it will take patience and determination and dedication to reach my goal of being able to play a simple song on the guitar. In life never teach yourself to give up when times get tough, teach yourself to strive above others and make a change.
